Photography Class

So, over the past couple of years I have been stalking the photography blog of Ashley Taylor.  When she moved into our ward this past year, I was so excited!  She did a photography class for our ward when Heidi and I did the digital scrapbook class.  I learned quite a bit then, but was still scared to switch over to manual because I didn't understand all of it, so switched my camera back to automatic.

She was teaching a photography class again, and I really wanted to take the full version instead of the condensed version we had at church.  We were able to work things out for me to take it and so I signed up with my sister in law, Sharlynn and we got to take it. 

The first night was classroom night and about 1/3 of the way through a lightbulb or something went on and I actually "got" it.  I was beginning to understand how it all went together and what order to do everything in. 

The 2nd night we got to go shoot some models.  Now, granted, our models were all absolutely amazing and gorgeous, so that helped, but I was able to do it on my own.  It was such a blast!  I had a really hard time picking favorites, but here some of my favorites of each of the models.

We learned how to do silhouettes too, way fun!

The Popcorn Man

Travis is loving his job at the theater.  He loves the people he works with and doesn't even mind doing the "chores" they have to do each shift.  We love the popcorn he brings home and love the caramel corn we have been able to make with it. He took us all to see THOR the other night for family night and we had a good time. 

Busy Busy

Heidi and I ran into a great opportunity with our scrapbooking this last week and we have been super busy getting stuff ready for our distributor.  They have lots of huge wholesale shows all through the Summer, so we got in with them at just the right time to be able to make their catalog and shows for next year's stuff.  We are trying to get 100 prints ready for them before the end of this month so they can make their catalog.

Here are a few of my favorites.  Some of these will be appearing in Seagull Book very soon and we have a couple of others we are working on.  They all come framed and are beautiful!

We also finally have kits up at the other store where we are selling our digital kits.  It was quite a bit of work getting everything renamed and sorted how they want it, but they get tons of hits each month so we hope this will be a great opportunity for us.

Busy Crafting and Scrapping

So, Heidi and I have been doing a booth at some craft boutiques.  At the one we did at Freedom Academy at the end of April, we had a great thought and have been working hard to get it all put together (it was something Sean has been telling us to do for over a year now, and when Heidi mentioned it to me at the boutique again, it finally sunk in and we started putting it together).  It has been a lot of work for the past few weeks, but we did a Mother's Day boutique in Santaquin to get our first shot at how it would go and it went pretty well for being a little small show in someone's back yard.  We were very encouraged, so we got more together and tried again this weekend and got blown over and rained out.  But, they day did start off encouragingly with some good sales and will be less preparation for the next one we do since we have it all put togehter and figured out now (we hope).  It has also brought forth another GREAT opportunity that I can't talk about yet, but hopefully it all pans out and goes well for us.  We are both very excited.  In the meantime, we are going to start selling our kits at another store and it should be up and running this week with our first 15 kits for them.  Another potentially great opportunity.  Plus, we are working and hoping to get our very own store/site set up very soon and have been making strides in that direction.  We will still keep selling at our original site too though.  It is a great store and community and we love selling there, just looking for chances to expand our business.

The boys are excited that school is nearing an end.  Travis is loving his job at the movie theater.  Tyrel passed off all his stuff to get his driver's license and has been busy aerating and helping Sean now that the weather is getting nicer and things are getting busy with his work.

Scruffy

Tyrel tried back during No Shave November to grow a beard, no luck.  He tried again in April and this is his accomplishment after a full month of not shaving.

Grandma Evers memories

After I wrote my big long post to my grandma, I remembered a few more things.  So, I thought I'd put them on here and keep adding to them as I remember them and maybe I'll get enough for a 2nd page.

I remember she always had gum in her purse.  It was Wrigley's of some kind, but I can't remember the exact flavor.  I want to say it was either the green kind or the yellow kind.  Speaking of purses, she had tons of them.  I remember her always moving everything to the purse that matched her outfit for the day.  She always had us wear our seatbelts in her car.  This was in the day before seatbelts were the law.  We thought it was cool to be able to wear seatbelts.  I don't know why we never thought we could just wear them in our own car.  She had a Christmas bow hanging from the ceiling in her garage so she knew how far to pull her car in.  Once it touched the windshield, she knew she was in far enough.  She had a brown refrigerator with an ice maker forever.  She was the only one I knew of when I was a kid that had an icemaker in her fridge.  I also loved her juice glasses that we would use for breakfast.  They were clear with a green frosted look to them.  I loved those glasses.  For some reason, they just remind me of grandma's house.  I can't believe she always had them for as long as I could rememer.  She also had cool kitchen chairs with wheels on them and they twirled all the way around.  I remember being at her house in Boulder for Christmas one year.  I was pretty distressed that Santa wouldn't find us there, but he did!   I remember when they got their microwave.  They were the first people I knew with a microwave.  Grandpa would make us bacon and scrambled eggs in the microwave and we thought that was so cool!  They kept a glass of water in the microwave all the time.  I'm not sure why, maybe in case it got turned on accidentally.  Maybe that was a rule of the first microwaves.  She always had spiced gumdrops in a dish on her coffee table.  I loved them and still do!
