Famly BBQ

A few weeks ago, Sean's cousin Jessica and her little girl Mia were on their way through moving from Colorado to California, so, since we all like a good BBQ, we had one at our house and invited a bunch of cousins over. Sean's siblings and their families came, Steve and Susie and their girls, Tim and Janelle and their girls, Shannon, and of course Jessica and Mia. We had a great time chatting and eating while the kids played volleyball with the beach balls in the yard. It was fun to get to see everyone again.

Tee Time

The Haskell's (who I process loans for) decided to have an office golf tournament. Sean thought it would be fun for our family to sign up as a team. So, we did. Sean, me, Travis, and Tyrel made up our team and Trevin came along and hit a ball here and there.

It was our first time golfing at the Spanish Oaks course (except for Sean), and our first time golfing this summer. We didn't golf last summer either because Sean broke his arm so it was fun and quite funny also. We had a good time and I'm pretty sure we came in dead last, but we had a fun time together as a family. They had Gatorade, candy bars, and chips for us to snack on while we golfed and we all had a ton of fun.

Youth Conference - "Snow" much Fun!

Are you ready for lots of pictures. I have been busy getting all of these scrapped. I took around 500 pictures (and I didn't even have my memory card the first day). Of course, I didn't scrap them all, but here are some of the fun times we had. We went to Snow College this year as a stake and we had a great time. I think our ward only had 1 girl and 2 boys that didn't make it, so we had a great turn out. I got to room with Ashley, Courtney H., Morgan H, Kylie A, and Kira. At least I think that was all. Our apartment seemed to be the hang out spot (maybe because I brought the slushie machine or maybe because I am just so much fun (LOL).

Day 1 -we met and had orientation and got our rooms then our group went up the canyon to the ropes course. This is where I discovered that I had left my memory card for my camera at home, so I didn't get any pictures there. I am hoping someone else will let me have some of theirs. It was a lot of fun and I am amazed at how fast Jonathan can climb. The rope course leaders said they had never seen anyone do the vertical playground that fast. I was also amazed at how brave some of the girls in our ward are. They climbed and jumped on things that I didn't think they would dare. Good job girls!

We came back and I was thankful that Ephraim is big enough to have a Wal-Mart. I made a quick trip for a new memory card so that I could take pictures the rest of the time. We came back, had dinner and then went to the Mormon Miracle Pageant in Manti. The last time I had been there was when Sean and I were engaged. It was fun and nice to just have to go to Ephraim when it was over instead of fighting traffic all the way home. It was pretty chilly though. I'm glad I had brought the levi blanket.

Day 2 - After breakfast we divided into groups and our ward first went and played sand volleyball

Then we played a game called rip-tag. Everyone had velcro things around their arms with two flags (tags) on each one. We were divided into two teams and the object was to run around and rip the tags off of the arm bands of the opposing team. You could only grab one at a time, tackling was allowed.

After that we went and played soccer with two balls going. They had these little tiny nets so the one team just parked Jacob in his wheelchair in front of the net and he was the goalie. He filled pretty much the whole net, so it was a pretty easy job. Then we went to the Institute building and had a workshop on leadership. Next we had lunch and then we got to play the water games. They were so much fun! I think the favorite things were the big inflatable slide and the slip N slide. On the inflatable slide they pretty much let us do whatever we wanted. They went down frontwards, backwards, front flips, back flips, trains, on their stomach, on their back. Anything goes!

There were around 10 different stations with all kinds of teamwork activities. Some were wet, some were not. Travis like the crab soccer on the tarp with the two giant exercise balls. Jacob was in charge of hosing everything down. Even the Bishop got to chase down the soccer balls that got kicked out of the playing area. The giant slingshots with the water balloons being caught with parachutes was a big hit too!

After that we got cleaned up, had dinner, Brother Linford came and spoke, and then there was a dance that night.

Day 3 - Breakfast and then a great testimony meeting and we all headed home.

Here are just a few random shots that didn't fit in with anything else but I thought were cute!

Kylee's shirt says "ever wonder what happened to the girls that ripped the heads off their Barbies? They Play Volleyball" Kyle's shirt says "Handsome is an understatement." I thought they were both funny.

It was a lot of fun to be their with both Travis and Tyrel. I remember doing this same Youth Conference when I was 15 or 16 and so I knew it would be fun. I think everyone had a great experience.

Planting Squash

Trevin's pick this year was for "that squash that is orange and you smash it up with butter and salt and pepper." or in other words, acorn squash. Since we all love it, we decided to give it a try. We have never planted acorn squash before, we usually just buy it from the store, so hopefully it grows well and we can eat it smashed up with butter, salt and pepper!

Planting Potatoes

Sean did a Family Night lesson on stewardship and how we need to learn to be responsible and grateful for what our Heavenly Father has blessed us with (please don't look at my front yard and judge me, LOL, we are still trying to save money to get it done). Anyway, we are having the kids each be in charge of a certain part of the garden this year. They all got to pick what they wanted to plant and take care of. Since Travis isn't really a vegetable eater, he opted for potatoes, which we haven't planted since we were first married, so it is kind of fun. This is my layout of Travis planting his potatoes.

Soccer Camp

Tyrel is gone to soccer camp in Cedar City this week. I'm missing him a little so here is a layout telling his soccer story! It was the template challenge at Stuff to Scrap this month. We were supposed to journal on 75% of our layout which is quite hard for someone who is journaling challenged like me but it is something I need to do more often so I am grateful for the challenge. He called his first day at camp and said they had won their first game. I got an email from Heidi saying he was headed to her house on Monday evening, but he didn't call us at all yesterday. So, either he is having way too much fun, is dead tired, or really busy. I'm guessing a combination of all of the above. We love you Tyrel and can't wait to hear all of your adventures at the end of the week. This is made from the Moving On graduation kit that Heidi and I made and we are selling in our store.

Busy with Summer

We are barely into summer and it is already busy. I am loving this weather though. We haven't had to turn on the sprinklers and pay for that expensive Elk Ridge water to keep our lawn and garden looking nice. Speaking of garden, ours is looking great! We planted potatoes, peppers, tomatoes, summer squash, zucchini, and acorn squash. We also planted some strawberries and have harvested 3 so far. LOL.

Tyrel has decided to try out for the high school soccer team for next year. We found out just in time about signups for soccer camp, so he is headed to Cedar City in the morning for a week of soccer camp. He is excited. Since it was such short notice, we ended up having him pay for 1/2 of his camp, which I think is a good idea anyway. We also had to buy him new cleats since his feet have grown 2 1/2 sizes since the last cleat purchase. We found a great deal for $30.29 at MVP sports. I was worried they were going to be closer to $85-$100 because they were Nike's, but we timed it right since Spring soccer season was over.

He will come back late Thursday and head over to join Travis and I at Youth Conference at Snow College on Friday morning. We actually leave Thursday for Youth Conference, so Tyrel will miss the first day of activities. It should be fun!

We also got a call last week from the Club Soccer team in Salem that had been trying to track down Tyrel for the past 4 days because they wanted him on their accelerated team (no tryouts or anything) So, there was another $225 for uniforms and dues for that. We really went back and forth about it because I hate putting that kind of money out for ball, but it seems like they kind of pass you over for the high school teams if you haven't played on a club team anymore. I hate the politics of it, but he has worked really hard and really likes playing and I love watching him play, so I guess I'm forfeiting my birthday present for Tyrel to play soccer and hopefully it pays off and he makes the high school team.

Trevin went to cub scout day camp at Camp Jeremiah Johnson last week. He had a great time and didn't get sunburned which is always a good thing.

Heidi and I have been designing scrapbook kits and selling them in a scrapbook store. I think we have done pretty darn good for newbies and it has been fun! It is exciting to have something to be able to do with her even though we are 3 hours away from each other. I have to show you the previews of our kits. I think they are stinkin' cute! I'm even going to show you the one's that aren't in the store yet. SHhhhh!! Don't tell.
