ZAP Pest Control

I guess I should finally blog about this. Sean decided about mid summer that he wanted to do pest control. He had looked and looked for what he wanted to do as far as starting a business and he was convinced that this is one that is fairly recession proof because people are either afraid of bugs or not. He finally decided to buy into a franchise with B2 Pest Control and started at the end of July actually doing the work as he was getting his licensing and registration in place and getting everything set up. After a couple months, he decided he wanted to start his own company instead because they weren't coming through on the training and advertising they had promised him and knew he had to get out soon or he would have to worry about non-compete agreements and stuff like that.

So, we got the business name registered, designed a logo, got new signage for the truck, new shirts, hats, pens, and business cards and he is now doing business as Zap Pest Control. So, if you have any bugs, rodents or weeds and need help getting rid of them, let us know. I wish we would have had it all set up last winter so that we could have been busy through the Spring and Summer, but he has landed a few contracts with hotels and banks so hopefully it will keep growing and get us through the Winter so we can survive and pay off the start up loan.

More fun Digital Scrapbooking

I got so many layouts done this weekend. Here are a few. Thanks Sean and the boys for letting me indulge myself and spend all weekend at the computer. I did cook for them though!

Day 8 challenge was to do a layout of one of your hobbies other than scrapbooking. My hobbies other than scrapbooking include reading, which I didn't have any pictures of me doing plus I already did a book layout earlier this month for another challenge; cooking, no pictures of me doing that either; and that is about all. I used to crochet and do crosstitch many many moons ago, I don't have any pictures of that. I watch my boys in sports activities, no pictures of me doing that either. So this one was really hard. I finally decided on 4wheeling, which I did have a few pictures of although they are old. I don't know if it is considered a hobby or an interest but that is what I scrapped about above.

The above layout was done for the progressive challenge that went on for 12 hours yesterday. Between BYC, church, and fireside, I barely had time to get it done. This is Trevin with his Eagles football helmet he got last year for Christmas and that is his best attempt at a mean football player face. LOL

There was another challenge going on all weekend to do a layout ALL ABOUT ME. This one was hard and I finally came up with something late last night right before the deadline. I think I will change the journaling a bit though because I wanted to use some words that others would use to describe me, not just what I came up with, so if you have any suggestions, leave me a comment and I'll add them on. I have 2 blank lines, so I can probably fit 6 more words. I like how it turned out even though I don't usually scrap about myself.

There was a challenge on Saturday to do a layout using your favorite color and its complimentary color. My favorite color is dark blue and it's compliment is orange which is my least favorite color. You had to look up the traits that those colors represent and portray that in your layout too. So I did a blue and orange layout with my dad because one of the meanings of blue is knowledge and one of the meanings of orange is wisdom and he is one of the wisest people I know. He always knows what to say to me when I am having a rough time. I hated it because it had orange in it and that didn't fit my taste at all and I don't think he ever wears orange except when he is deer hunting. So...... this is my re-make of my layout of my dad. I think these colors fit his personality and my personality much better than the orange one did. I did keep the same basic layout just changed a few embellishments, recolored the ribbons slider and journaling, and changed the papers.

By the way, the fireside I went to last night was our Youth Standards Night. It was done by Jenny Phillips and her entourage (choir). If you don't know who she is, she is a singer/songwriter and does lots of songs for the YM/YW theme every year. If you are in YW, you probably have heard of her. It was great! It was themed Remember the Journey and was about the Martin Willey handcart company and centered a lot about faith, courage, and keeping yourself close to the Savior. She talked about what we need to cut out of our lives so that we can spend more time on those things that will bring us closer to the Savior and allow us to have the spirit with us. I thought they did a wonderful job.

A New Smile

Tyrel got his braces off on Tuesday this week. After a few days I am still getting used to seeing him smile without all that silver stuff on his teeth. I think his teeth look great and love his new smile! They told us 2 1/2 years when he first got them on, but it was only 2 years and 1 month. It would have been exactly 2 years had he not got the Swine Flu the week he was supposed to get them off initially, but we had to postpone until he was better.

My Little Gangster

Trevin put his own costume together this year. He originally was going to use Tyrel's old grim reaper costume, but he couldn't wear his mask to school. So he was going to be a gangster at school and use the grim reaper costume for the family party and to go trick or treating in. He decided he couldn't eat the fun treats at the family party with a mask on so he decided to be the gangster for the family party also. Then all of his friends that he was going trick or treating with were being just normal things (nerd, athletes, cowboys, etc) no monsters, so he decided to be a gangster for that too. So, the grim reaper costume didn't get used at all.

I just realized that we didn't decorate and we didn't carve pumpkins this year, how lame is that?

So, you will all probably get sick of me this month. November 7th is national Digital Scrapbooking Day and the store where Heidi andI sell our scrapbook kits is having a challenge a day. So I'm going to try to participate in all of them and hopefully get the rest of my pictures for this year scrapped before we begin a new year. So I will probably be here with at least one new layout every day.

Yesterday's challenge was to scrap about a family member picking one thing about them that makes you smile. I chose my wonderful husband who has a quick wit and a funny sense of humor that I also see our boys picking up on.

I also love him because he took me to the temple last night for our ward temple night. I think we had over 60 people there. It was like sitting in heaven with all those people I know from my ward. Thanks Sean!

If you are reading this and you are in book club with me, don't be offended if I put your book in the "Didn't like" category. I guess I shouldn't have watched the movie of the Count of Monte Cristo before I read the book. I love the movie and the book was just way too long (and I even read the abridged version) and he wasn't as much of a good guy in my eyes reading about him in the book as he was on the movie and mostly because he didn't even get the girl at the end of the book. How dumb is that!? I'm glad I read it, I was just disappointed because I, for once, liked the movie better. The Friday Night Knitting Club was a little heavy on the foul language. The end was pretty good even though it was sad, but overall, the bad language made me not like it. I will not recommend it to anyone and I will not keep the book.

The So-So books were okay, glad I read them, but will probably not read them again. On the bright side, there were lots of books in the Liked category so great job overall this year ladies on picking books. The Remembering Isaac book was not a bookclub book, it was a book written by Sean's sisters husbands sisters husband. Did that make sense? It was a good book and now I have to wait for the sequel. I hope he gets it out soon.

I think I already said I wouldn't do any more soccer layouts, but we got word today that Tyrel's club soccer team officially took 1st place so I had to sneak in 1 more! OK, make that 2 more. Way to go Tyrel and Salem Shooters U15 team!
