We should have started that way!

Trevin had his third football game tonight.  They lost 18-6.  It was 18-0 at halftime and we thought they were doomed, but they came out in the 2nd half to play and they scored a touchdown.  Then they marched the offense of the other team backwards down the field and didn't let them score in the 2nd half at all.  If they would have played that well the first half, we would have won!  It was perfect football weather and I had fun cheering for my Raiders!  Trevin played well as center and in his blocking positions.  I love the looks I'm able to catch on his face.  Plus, picture taking lighting was perfect!

Family History FHE

We had our combined Family Home Evening at Ken and Jen's on Sunday.  We thought that would be easier than doing it on Monday so we wouldn't have to wait for everyone to get home from work, eat, and then travel and we did have a great turnout!  We were even able to have Kristi's family on the phone with us.  They were trying to get them hooked up with the video too, but not sure if that ever happened or not.  We sang the traditional family night song, Todd gave the opening prayer, Lauren and Sean gave the scripture and then we talked about the importance of family history and keeping records.  Jen had me bring some of my scrapbook pages and talk about that.  I actually had more prepared about actually doing family history research, but I could tell the little kids couldn't take much more, so cut it short.  Sorry Jen! 

Jen had us all send her questions of things we wanted to know about Diane and LaMarr and it was fun to hear the answers.  We didn't get through too many though because their engagement story took a long time.  Good thing LaMarr was patient because it only took Diane about 9 months to finally answer him. I'm going to add the full list of questions and answers once I get them, but some of the fun things we learned were that Diane worked as a car hop at the Frostop for 5 years and LaMarr's high school had over 5000 students and even with that much competition, he was 2nd chair in the band playing the clarinet.

So, we went to Salt Lake for a combined FHE tonight at Jen and Ken's.  This is the conversation I hear on the way home.
Travis:  Trevin, do NOT fall asleep!  Keep playing your PSP.
silence for a couple of seconds
Travis:  Trevin, DON'T fall asleep!  Play your PSP!
Tyrel:  If he falls asleep, just smack him.
Me:  That's mean, why can't he fall asleep?
Travis:  Because he drools and slobbers and sneezes!
Sean laughs and says:  I can just see you guys telling his fiance this some day.
Travis:  Here Trevin, watch a movie on my iPod, just don't fall asleep.

Maybe you had to be there, but I thought it was quite comical.

Lazy Saturday

I got up and made a big breakfast this morning.  This is our Saturday tradition.  It is the only day I make a big breakfast for breakfast.  Sometimes I make a big breakfast for dinner other times during the week though. 

Sean mowed the lawn, Travis and Tyrel planted some bushes, Trevin had football practice, and then we all did our Saturday chores.  I kind of was dragging all day long.  I hope I'm not getting sick.

We listened to the BYU game on the radio and then went grocery shopping.  So, I guess it really wasn't a lazy day, just nothing exciting happening.

Tomatoes are DONE

I know, it's a miracle, but I did them.  They really didn't take as long as I thought they would.  I should have just done it earlier.  I chopped everything up and started it all simmering this morning and then after I got back from my lunch date with Sean, I got it in the bottles and in the canner.  It is so nice to have it done and it is good I made it when I did, I don't think the tomatoes would have lasted another day and definitely would not have made it through the weekend.  Now we have enough salsa to last us through the year I hope.  I think I might buy another box and bottled them plain, just diced up.  We'll see.

After dinner, we went to Corbin's birthday party.  I think most of the family made it.  They had wagon rides pulled by his Granpa Hurst's horses, calf roping and the older boys had fun on the zip line.  They are such chickens sometimes, we had a hard time convincing them to step off the edge, but they had fun doing it over and over after we convinced them the first time.

Haylee made yummy cupcakes and we had oreo ice cream with them.  She also had a cute farm cake decorated for him.  It was a great time even though our allergies got the best of us towards the end of the evening.

Trevin stayed and had a sleep over with his cousins.  Travis went to hang out with his friends, so Tyrel and I had a date and watched a movied and ate popcorn.  I think of all my kids, he would have the toughest time as an only child.  He kind of doesn't know what to do when everyone else leaves.  It's fine with me though.  I love to snuggle up in my pj's with my fleece blanket in the theater room and watch movies with him.

They still sit in the box

Another day with good intentions and I didn't get it done.  My tomatoes are still in a box on my counter.  I really don't have any good excuses either.  I sat down at my computer this morning and thought I'd make a new blog background really quick, and it took me forever to get the size right!  So, I saved the template when I finally got it done, so next time I want to change, I will know the correct dimensions.  So, do you love it by the way?  I think it is so fun.  I have a matching background, header, siggy and post divider.  I made this with a kit we have coming out in a couple months called Abby. It is named after my cute little neighbor who had her pictures taken in a dress with these colors in it.  I loved the pictures and picked out the colors to make a kit to match it.  I think it is one of my new favorites!

By the time I got done with all my blog upgrades, I knew I wouldn't have time to get the tomatoes done before I had to go visiting teaching.  So, I was going to start afterwards.  When I got back from visiting teaching, I remembered that Trevin had an early footbball game tonight and I wouldn't be able to get it done before that, so I put it off again. 

Trevin's team had a tough time without their quarterback tonight.  A quarterback is kinda hard to replace.  Who would have thought a birthday party would be more important than a football game?  LOL!  They lost 19-0. 

When we got home, we had dinner really quick and I still didn't have time to do tomatoes.  I will do them on Friday!  No excuses.

Still no tomatoes in bottles

I had every intention of bottling my tomatoes today, but then Sean decided he needed me to follow him around 1/2 the day taking pictures of him spraying and stuff for his website.  We had a kit release, so I had to get all the maintenance done for that when I got back, then the kids got home and I had Scouts.

Tyrel helped out with Scouts for us.  We worked on the Soccer belt loop and pin.  We got the belt loop all finished and did 4 out of 5 requirements for their pin.  They will have to do the last one at home.  It was nice to have him running all the drills and playing the game with the boys.  Made it easy on us old ladies.

After that I made dinner and Travis and Tyrel headed to the Skyhawk Homecoming Rally.  Travis was on the team for the Juniors this year.  He had to carry a girl piggyback for one of the legs and he also had to roll a roll of paper towels down the football field with his nose.  His team came in 5th out of 6th, but at least he had fun!  Tyrel said the Sophomores came in 3rd.

I went to book club at the Williams' house with my ward and so after all those events plus a couple loads of laundry and picking up the kitchen, I had no time for tomatoes.  But, tomorrow is another day.
