Easter Morning treasure hunt

For Easter this year, the boys were sure they were going to get the new Guitar Hero World Tour set. Unfortunately, Sean and I waited too long to shop and coudn't find one in the stores anywhere. So, being creative like we are (LOL) we got them each a gift card to Wal Mart so they could get it when they had some more in. So, back to Easter morning. The boys searched the house for eggs. The Easter bunny usually hides them all in just one room but since they are older now, I decided to tell the Easter bunny to hide them outside, but since it rained, the Easter bunny setttled for hiding them all over upstairs in all the rooms. This really threw them off because they weren't used to searching so hard. Back to the gift, they knew it came in a big box and couldn't find a big box anywhere. We told them that it was in the living room so they were searching behind and under couches and anywhere that they could think of with no luck. (We had put the gift cards under the grass in their baskets). We played the hot and cold game and they couldn't figure it out still, so they asked for clues, so I found a scripture that had to do with a basket and gave them the reference to all look up. They had a scripture chase, read the scripture and STILL couldn't figure it out. Finally one of them dumped out their eggs and grass and found the card. It was hilarious. I decided that next year I'm going to do a treasure hunt with scriptures for their gifts again. It made Easter Sunday at least a little more spiritual since that is what it should be anyway.

Daddy Daughter Date

The MiaMaids were in charge of the April combined YW activity. We had decided we wanted to do a daddy daughter date back in January when we knew it was our turn. Problem was, my president turned 16 in March and moved into th Laurel class and they didn't get my new presidency put in during March and not during April either. So that left me and the advisors in charge of the activity. I thought it would be fun for the dad's if we went golfing. So, I called Tracy Zobell at Gladstan and asked if it would be ok for a bunch of giggling girls and their dads to come hit some buckets of balls and play on the putting green.

I made the invitations and got them out to the girls. We had them make a picnic meal for their dad's (I think Subway was glad we had a party that night). We met at the church and ate our meals on the lawn and then headed up to the golf course to play around.

I took pictures of the girls with their dads in our golf cart and they just goofed off and had fun. It was fun to listen to the dads teach their girls how to golf. They were all giving different and varied advice.

This was one of my favorite talks from conference last weekend and it was from one of my favorite speakers. Hope you had a happy Easter!

Trevin has advanced again in Scouts! He received his Bear and moved up into Webelos at the end of March. We are so proud of him and how hard he has worked to advance. One more year and he will be a Boy Scout! Our baby is growing up fast!

Pedicure Party - Girls Day Out

My family all came up this weekend. I always feel bad for Kaitlin, since she is the only girl cousin among all of the boys, so as she walked in on Friday, I had a thought that it might be fun to go to the beauty college to get pedicures on Saturday, just the girls. So, we scheduled appointments and Kaitlin, Heidi, Andrea and me all went and got our first pedicures (except for Andrea, she is much more cultured than the rest of us I guess). I loved the scrub part the best and I also did the parafin wax dip. My feet are so soft and cute now. We all couldn't quit looking at our toes all evening. It was a fun day.

The boys went to the movie while we were getting our pedicures and then we went back to my house, played Apples to Apples, and had a spaghetti dinner with ice cream for dessert. It was a fun weekend.

Tyrel is 14

We have had a busy birthday week at our house. Tyrel turned 14 on Tuesday and was ordained a Teacher today at church. We are so proud of him and the wonderful young man he is becoming.

Turning 10 on March Ape

I can't believe my baby is 10 years old already. I can't believe how fast time goes. Trevin had his 10th birthday on March ape (that's what he used to say when he was little and people asked him when his birthday was). He and Tyrel wanted to get a Wii for their birthday as a combined present, so we went in on part of it and they all chipped in the rest. They have had fun with it. His birthday was on Sunday, so since we couldn't go out to eat for his birthday, he chose to have lasagne for his birthday. We also had chocolate bundt cake with chocolate glaze and ice cream. Grandpa and Grandma Nielsen came up for dessert and so did Todd, Haylee and their boys.

1 - He sings and hums to himself when he doesn't think anyone is listening.

2 - He is a very good student (even though he forgets to turn in his homeowork)

4 - He is independent and can entertain himself

5 - He is perfectly happy to fix his own dinner and take care of things when we have YM/YW nights
