We had such a great combined young men/young women activity tonight. We met at the church and had our opening exercises (the Priests were in charge). Then they just invited anyone who wanted to to share their favorite scripture, tell why it was their favorite and express their testimony. It was awesome! It was a continual stream of youth the entire time. I'm so grateful to have such wonderful youth in the area we live in. It was especially great to hear Travis and Tyrel's favorite scriptures and why they liked them.
Lori's Favorite - 2 Ne 25:26
Travis' Favorite - Mosiah 4:30 - he talked about how you need to remember that others are always watching you and that you need to be a good example and make sure you are making wise choices so that you can be a good example
Tyrel's Favorite - 2 Ne 2:27 - he talked about how there are two paths to choose and you can choose misery or you can choose the right and have eternal life and happiness

Family Night
I am so grateful for the Family Night program! I love the chance that it gives us once a week to spend time together as a family. We weren't too good at it when Travis and Tyrel were little, but sometime the year before Trevin was born, we set a goal to be better at it and I think we have only missed maybe a half dozen times since then. It is one goal we have been good at. We sometimes slack at family scripture study and family prayers, but we almost never miss family night and we are trying really hard to make the others good habits also. We have a rotation board and we all take turns. Sometimes our lessons are really really short, but sometimes, that's ok.
Haylee, Traci and I talked on New Years about maybe having a monthly Nielsen family Family Night with each of us taking a turn once a year and having a set week and those who can make it, can, and those who can't, we will miss them and hope to catch them the next time. So, I hope we can get that planned out and put together!

The Early Schedule
Today I'm grateful that we get the early schedule for church this year! I so love being able to get up and get the day started and then have the afternoon for naps, spending time together, making a good dinner, and eating lunch when it is really lunchtime. Don't tell, but Sean likes it for those same reasons, plus he gets to watch more football.
The only bad part is I don't have time to review my lesson on Sunday morning one extra time before I have to give it, but all the other benefits outweigh that one!

Goals for 2010
Nothin But Net
I'm also grateful for all the wonderful coaches all of my kids have had over the years. It is wonderful that there are people willing to put in time to help these kids so much.Friday, January 1, 2010
Welcome 2010!
We had everyone up again on New Years Day (plus Troy) to watch some football, visit and eat. I really need to get started on my New Years goals after all the eating that has been going on lately. We just snacked on leftover stuff from New Years Eve for lunch and then we made pizza's for dinner. They all thought I was insane for taking a picture of the pizza, but it was so pretty with all the colors and it tasted delightful! I'm grateful that we made this combo pizza instead of just a bunch of pepperoni pizzas like we normally do on a Friday night.
